Tip: Add oil to concealer or foundation

Hey Dolls!

Welcome Back to the Makeup Junkie! Today's post is going to be a quick tip! Enjoy!!

Did you know you can use oil to make a dry or "too" matte foundation or concealer smoother and more dewy without changing the coverage? Well you can. Take a small amount of your favorite face friendly oil and mix it into your concealer or foundation, then apply. Add more oil or more makeup if the ratio is not correct.

BTW, oils that are face friendly are rose hip, grapeseed, argan oil, and almond oil. Coconut Oil or Olive oil may be too heavy for this trick.

Hopefully this helps!

That's all Folks!

Quick Tip: Neosporin

Hey Dolls!

This is a quick tip for anyone who pops their blemishes!

TIP: After cleaning the skin, popping the pimple, and toning the skin, use a little neosporin to quickly heal the blemish. Use neosprin at least twice a day for the 3-4 days after extracting the pimple; if you do this along
with proper cleansing of the skin you will notice the blemish will heal faster and will not leave a dark, scab like scar.

Anything Else?
Once the blemish has healed exfoliate the skin 2 times a week. Focus the scrub on that area. Within a few weeks the scar will either be gone or diminished greatly.

That's all folks!

Makeup Tips for Glasses Wearers

Hey Dolls!

Glasses are amazing. There are so many different designs and colors to fit every style. However, It can be extremely difficult to apply and wear makeup when you are a full time wearer of glasses. At times your eyes may look small due to the type of lens. Or the lenses may make the eyes look too big. Or glasses hinder the  ablitly to show off eyeshadow. My point is...  It can be such a hassle. Trust me I know, I am a full time wearer of glasses. #thestruggle. Although the struggle is all too real, I have discovered a few tips and tricks to make the struggle feel a little less real. So, without further a do, let's jump into it!

Let's begin with tips for glasses that close of the eye: All of these tips will aid in making the eye
appear larger and brighter.
  1. Apply a white, cream, or tan eyeliner to the waterline.
  2. Apply a shimmery champagne colored eyeshadow into the inner tear duct.
  3. Curl your eye lashes upwards.
This next set of tips is for glasses that make the eyes look too big: All of these tips will aid in making the eyes appear smaller.
  1. Apply a black eyeliner in the tear duct.
  2. Curl your lashes downward. Use the eyelash curl upside down to achieve a downward lashes.
  3. Use darker colors on your eyes.
These tips are for glasses that make it hard to show off eyeshadow:
  1. DO NOT wear winged eyeliner.
  2. Use a eyeshadow base to intensify the eyeshadow.
  3. Wear your glasses farther down your nose or as high up as possible.
This tip is for glasses that create dark shadows under the eye:
  1. Use a concealer several shades lighter than your skin tone. 2-3 shade lighter will go fine. Take you finger and pat in it. Then apply a equally as light powder over it to set it.
This tip is for glasses that rub of makeup along the bridge of the nose:
  1. Use a powder puff and apply a heavy layer of powder over the nose. DO NOT apply makeup setting spray to the nose.
These last few tips is for glasses that distort the eyebrows: Remember glasses only frame your eyes, eyebrows frame the entire face. If eyebrows look distorted so does the entire face.
Me wearing my favorite glasses
  1. If your glasses hides your eyebrows simple arch then higher.
  2. If you glasses make your eyebrows appear to larger. Thin them out slightly.
  3. If the glasses make your arch look too high reduce the size of your arch.
That's all folks!

Quick Eyebrow Tip

Hey Dolls!

In an ideal world we would all have thick, perfectly arched eyebrows that stayed in place all day. Unfortunately, we don't live in an ideal world. Therefore we must create the illusion of thick, perfectly arched eyebrows that stay in place. In a previous post I talked about an inexpensive dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade that would fill in the brows and make them sweatproof, smuggle proof, and waterproof. That covers the thick, perfectly arched part... but what about keeping unruly brow hairs in place? Well, I have a solution for that as well! In today's post I will share that tip with you. So, without further a do let's jump into it!

Let's begin with the tip...

● Use your favorite hairspray to keep your brow hairs in place.
         ○ How do you use hairspray to keep your eyebrows I place you ask... Well its easy. All you need is a clean spoolie and your hairspray. Simply spray the spoolie with the hairspray and comb it through your eyebrows. (Remember to fill in your eyebrows before dojng the hairspray tip.) It's the perfect way to keep your eyebrows in place all day.

That's all Folks!

That was an easy, inexpensive tip that will help keep your eyebrow hairs in place. This trick has made it way easier for me to control my curly brow hairs. I figured since it has been such a God send for me it was only right to share it with you all. With that said, I hope you Dolls find this tip helpful.

How to: Prolong the Wear of Your Nail Polish

Hey Dolls!

Putting on nail polish can be a pain. And with the time and effort it takes to put it on you probably want it to last. So, today's post is going to be a few tips on how to prolong the wear of your nail polish. Let's jump into it!

  1. Smooth the surface of your nail. Take a fine file and remove any rough or raised surface space on your nails. This will ensure you nail polish goes on well.
  2. Wash nails thoroughly and dry nails well BEFORE applying nail polish. The oils from your hands can get onto the surface of your nails. Oil will prevent the polish from sticking as well as it could.
  3. Use a base coat. A base coat will protect your nail from discoloration as well as create a smooth base for your nail polish to sit on.
  4. Use a top coat. A top coat not only adds shine but it locks in your nail color.
  5. Use good quality nail polish. Quality nail polish does not have to be expensive but, the better the quality the longer the polish will last.
  6. Try a gel based formula. Gel nail polish will last several days longer than regular polish.
That's all folks!

That was a few simple tips to prolonging the wear of your nail polish. I hope you Dolls found this helpful. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them in the comments section below. If you would like to contact me refer to the 'follow me' page above. My Eyebrow Routine

Hey Dolls!

I love to apply my foundation, highlight and contour but, I could comfortably go outside without doing those things. However, I cannot comfortably go outside without filling in my eyebrows. Without the frame that eyebrows give my face, I feel naked and incomplete. ( I am sure that everyone has something they can't go outside without doing.) Because I feel the need to fill in my eyebrows, I spend a lot of time perfecting my eyebrow routine. However, I refuse to spend a lot of money on products for them. I feel as though the drugstore has plenty of products that work perfectly for filling in eyebrows. With all that said I want to share with you all my everyday, drugstore eyebrow routine. So, without further a do let's jump into it!

Let's begin with the products I use...
1. Wet n' Wild Fergie creme eyeliner in Cocoa Riche
2. Small angled eyeliner brush
3. ELF glitter primer
4. Kat Von D lock-it tattoo foundation in Deep 74
5. Flat concealer brush
6. A basic spoolie
7. ELF Flawless concealer brush
8. L.A. Girl pro conceal HD concealer in Fawn

Onto the tutorial...
1. Apply ELF glitter primer on the eyebrows. This will create a smooth surface to apply product on.
2. Brush the eyebrows into place with a spoolie. This will also create a smooth surface to apply prod ut on.
3. Apply the liner to the angled eyeliner brush. Begin to fill in the eyebrows. Start at the tail and work your way froward. Make sure you use light strokes to keep the brows looking natural. Starting at the end will ensure that the brows stay natural looking. ( the tail should be the darkest portion of the brow. The beginning should be the lightest. When the eyebrows are completely filled in they should have a slight gradient effect.)
4. Once the eyebrows are completely filled in, lightly brush them with the spoolie. This will also aid in keeping the natural looking.
5. Take a small amount of the of a lighter concealer and apply it to the flat concealer brush. ( a light color for me is the L.A. Girl concealer in fawn.) Use the concealer on the brush to clean up under the eyebrow. This will also highlight that area as well.
6. If you need to clean up on top of the eyebrow use the same concealer brush and a bit of a concealer or foundation that matches your skin tone to do so. ( my product of choice is my foundation which is the kat von d lock-it tattoo foundation in deep 74)
7. Once the brows are cleaned up take a domed brush (elf flawless concealer brush would work perfectly.) and blend out the harsh lines around the eyebrow.
8. If you must you can set the eyebrows with a gel. I personally do not.

That's all folks!

Those are all the steps that use to fill in my eyebrows. For me this is the easiest and most cost effective  way for me to properly do my brows. By the way, if you are curious as to why I use the eyeliner to fill in my brows go to my inexpensive eyebrow dupe blog post. I will link it below!

How to: Add a Pop of Color to an Everyday Eye Look

Hey Dolls!

Here in America it is summertime. Which means it's time to switch out deep fall/winter colors for
brighter spring/summer colors. Though bright colors are beautiful and fun to play with, it is hard to work them into a makeup look without looking like a box of crayons exploded on your face. So, with that being said, in today's post I will be giving tips on how to add a pops of color to a basic makeup look. Let's jump into it!

P.S. I am using my everyday eye makeup as my basis makeup look. If you are interested my everyday eye makeup I will link it below.

Let's begin with ways to add a pop of color to the eyes:
  1. Use a colorful liquid liner instead of black. The color will pop out from behind your lashes adding a fresh twist that isn't too much.
  2. Add a bright color to the inner corner of the eye. Adding bright colors here will open up the eye and give the a basic eye look a fun twist.
  3. Add to lower lash line. Instead of smudging dark colors under the bottom lashes use a bright fun color. This will add a beautiful contrast to the neutral colors happening on the lid.
  4. Add to the water line. Adding a colorful, pigmented liner to the water line is an extremely subtle way to introduce color to the eye. It will open the eye up and make it appear larger.
  5. Add a funky color to the lid. This is a bold pop of color unlike the other tips above.
  6. Fill in your eyebrows with funky colors. This is actually on trend this season. This is unique and fresh to add color to the face. It is by far the most out-there pop of color I personally have seen.
Let's move on to the lips and cheeks:
  1. Adding a bright blush to a completely neutral makeup look is a bold way to add color to the face.
  2. Adding a bright lip color to a completely neutral makeup look is also a bold way to add a pop of color to the face. Remember to line the lips first to prevent the color from bleeding.
That's all folks!

Adding color to a basic makeup look and really spice up the look without much effort. I highly suggest you Dolls try one (or all!) of the various ways to add color.

I hope you all found that helpful. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them in the comments section below. Remember to share this post. Also, add my on Google Plus to receive regular updates on the blog. Thank you much for stopping by! I hope you have a great week!

How to Find your Skin Type

Hey Dolls!
Finding makeup and skincare that works for your skin is hard. Especially if you don't know if you have dry skin, normal skin, combination skin, or oily skin. In today's post I will be explaining the characteristics of each skin type and giving tips on how to balance the different skin types. So, let's jump into!

Let's start with dry skin...

  1. People who have dry skin usual have skin the feels rough or tight.
  2. Some people will have dry patches.
  3. People with dry skin do not produce any oil once so ever.
  4. This skin type is common in decadents of people who originated in areas of high elevation and cold climate. Dry skin is also common among people with aging skin.
Now let's get normal...
  1. People with normal skin don't experience issues with dryness or oiliness.
  2. Normal skin is very balanced.
  3. However hormonal changes can alter the balance.
  4. Climate change can alter the balance in normal skin.
Combination time...
  1. People with combo skin generally gets oily in the t-zone ( the forehead and nose). Combo skin is normal on the outer parts.
  2. Climate change can alter how oily or dry combo skin can be.
Let's get oily...
  1. Oily skin is greasy all over.
  2. Rarely experience dry patches.
  3. Oily skin people usually suffer from large pores and acne.
Now that you have figured out your skin type, I will give you a couple of tips on how to balance your skin.
  • If you suffer from combo or oily skin here are some tips...
    1. Wash face in cold water. Cold water helps prevent oils from surfacing.
    2. Exfoliating 1-3 times a week will loosen oils in the skin.
    3. Use a night cream that has pore shrinking ingredients. Open pores give off more oil.
    4. Try my DIY skin tightening and brightening mask. To help reduce oiliness and pore size.
    5. Tone the skin with a good quality toner. Toner will help skin reach a balanced pH level. When skin is balanced oils will be reduced.
    6. Refrain from using moisture in the mornings.
    7. Drink plenty of water. Water will detoxify the skin. Toxins and dirt cause the skin to produce extra oil. When the skin is being detoxified the oil production will slow.
  • If  you suffer from dry skin here are some tips...
    1. Wash face with warm water. Warm water will help produce oils.
    2. Use SPF. The sun can cause damage. Damage can result it more dry patches. Try SPF 30 or higher.
    3. Moisturize with a rich cream or oil at night. At night the skin cells have more time to turn over and produce healthy, balanced skin. The rich creams and oils will be absorbed much better while the skin is going through this process.
    4. Exfoliate 1-3 times a week. Exfoliating the skin will remove the rough skin, will open pores and allow moisturizer to be absorbed better.
    5. Invest in a humidifier. It will add moisture to the  air which in turn will moisture the skin.
    6. Try my DIY mask for dry skin. It will be the previous post.
    7. Drink plenty of water. Drinking water will remove toxins and hydrate the skin.
  • If you have normal skin here are some tips for you...
    1. Exfoliate 1-3 times a week. This will help remove dead skin cells, brighten the skin, reduce dry patches, and will remove oils that are deep in the skin.
    2. Moisturize at night with a thick cream or oil. This will help with balance.
    3. Moisturize during the day with a moisturizer that has SPF and is thin and light weight. This will prevent skin from drying out while protecting it from the sun.
    4. Drink plenty of water. Water removes toxins that can effect the skin.
That's all folk!

Understanding your skin type is important. Knowing what skin type you have can really improve the quality of your skin. When your skin is happy and healthy then, your makeup will apply flawlessly.

Hopefully this post was helpful. If you have questions or comments please leave them in the comments section below. Remember to share and 1+ this post with friends and family.
